Looking through my childhood memorabilia, I realized that my perspective on past events is heavily influenced by my experiences as a child. To capture this unique perspective, I decided to create a series of paintings that compared my childhood memories to my current experiences. The result is a set of three paintings that showcase my journey of reminiscing.
In the first painting, I used a medium-dot technique to create a blurred image of my childhood landscape. The road is the focal point of the painting, representing a vivid flashback to my memories. As an adult in the present, my perspective is very realistic, yet everything around the road remains blurred and fuzzy. The second painting captures a photo session with old friends, playing childhood games. I created a tight space in the present that is very realistic, but as the room begins to fade, the past emerges. Using big and far-apart dotted strokes, I show how the present fades away to make room for the past.
The third painting depicts a child's perspective of watching friends play games on the road. The colors are dreamy and imaginative, with each color representing a different status symbol. The scene becomes clearer as I remember the past more vividly. I also added a blurred image of a person, giving the painting a more realistic look.
These three paintings represent my life through different periods, from a child's innocence to an adult's realism. They showcase how my perspective has changed over time, and the importance of cherishing the past while living in the present.
