Artist Statement
My foray into the world of drawing started when I was six years old. I remember feeling ignited by the early, meaningless scrawls, and my works were mostly developed by instinct. I used to draw whatever I saw and continued to do so whenever I found anything interesting. My inspirations ranged from movies to my favorite idols, and I would draw them repeatedly. However, my current drawings have not improved much since I don't draw as frequently as I used to. As an adult, I understand the importance of perception and reality when it comes to the evolution of my work. I am now focusing on graphic design, which I plan to pursue for the rest of my life. My sentimental sadness presents many challenges, but I hope to express my emotions through my art.
This semester, I have produced works that reflect social realities while showcasing a part of myself. My mood is greatly influenced by social reality, and I aim to capture that in each piece. As a freshman, I am still finding my footing, and I am yet to be satisfied with any of my creations. As Leonardo Da Vinci once said, "Art is never finished, only abandoned." For my final project, I decided to create a collage based on my chosen artist. Collage is an abstract art form that is challenging to comprehend but contains a significant message. This is the first time I decided to choose a negative topic, and I do not believe I have anything to hide. As an artist, I experience both happiness and despair. This project reflects my personal context and circumstances as a freshman. I am constantly learning and growing, and I hope to discover new aspects of myself.
