Artist Statement
From the instant my eyes met the assignment topic, I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I perceive art as a conduit that bridges the gap between individuals, fostering connections and facilitating communication through images, paintings, and designs. It always seems to me that art takes on a lighter, more profound meaning when it intertwines with personal narratives. Rather than mere words, it is the conveyance of these stories through art that truly mesmerizes the audience. This is the reason my work often delves into the shadows of my psyche, albeit always aimed towards positivity. It's my way of releasing past hurts with grace and positivity, akin to how one gently sets a bird free.
Do you find truth in dreams that visit you in the silence of the night? I do. My dreams glide away peacefully, yet they invariably conclude in a profound manner that imprints itself into my memory and is impossible to forget.
What struck you the most in the first and second pieces of this project? Perhaps it can be myself, my eyes, my hands, flowers, or subtle details. Regardless, I am confident that these images spin a tale. It might be short or long, simple or convoluted, but a story unfolds within these two frames nonetheless.
It's the story of a three-year journey towards awakening and the rediscovery of my identities. It began with a long slumber under a hushed night sky, where dreams of a radiant future for myself danced frequently. Almost every day, I'd eagerly await the twilight hour and the promise of these enchanting dreams. But a realization dawned upon me: why tether myself to dreams when I could take the reins and chase them in reality, both day and night? Encouraged by this thought, I decided to pursue my dreams, and I was fortunate to see them manifest.
