Artist Statement
The Inspiration behind "Imaginary Heaven", "Richness" and "The Face We Shown"
My personal journey through difficult times has inspired the creation of these three artworks. They reflect who I am and who I aspire to be in the future. My emergence and rise through hardship have helped shape the person I am today. I believe that everything happens for a reason, and that belief has kept me going with the conviction that I will emerge stronger.
These three artworks are a combination of mixed media techniques that blends traditional and digital approaches seamlessly. "Imaginary Heaven" represents the idea that if mental health were a child, would we take care of it? The healing process is arduous, but once we attain it, we feel as though we are floating in an imaginary heaven. On the other hand, "The Face We Shown" reveals a stronger self that faces criticism and judgement while putting on a brave face. Finally, "Richness" depicts a story of self-love and protection. If we imagine our minds as glamorous castles, are we trapped, or are we simply healing?
