My childhood is the subject of Veil of Night. I would described myself as quiet and reserved and lacked many acquaintances with whom to socialize. My entire world was considerably more constrained and isolated most of my childhood. The theme of the work is thus gloomy. The vines in this piece stand for constraint and confinement, and the owl was an observant, almost judging. The figure's gesture is also looking down, which represents a sorrowful and troubled mentality. The night is the stillest and loneliest time of the day, where I felt isolated as the night grew cold, and my only companion was the distance moon.
At A New Dawn, I become more mature, more welcoming. It depicts a new beginning, a new chronic cycle of an upbeat phase in my life, in which I found art and met new friends. It fundamentally altered how I saw the world. The idea of birds flying across this place represents freedom from shackles. Butterflies are a symbol of hope for the future. Here, the figure's face is filled with optimism as it looks ahead. Bright colors and sun-themed imagery offer a cheery, cozy contrast to the dismal night.
