Embodying Grief in Photographic based Media |
SpecialismPhotography
Description
Grief affects different aspects of one's perception on life (and death). The portrayal of grief is about making sense of the absent, therefore, the process of grieving is never clear, disorganized. In this sense there is no start, no middle and no end. All there is a sense of fluidity, like a body of water. On the other hand, one may experience grief as layers and layers of realities being put upon each other, as "collection, nostalgia and regret co-exist in the present moment". As the mourner experience realities upon realities, fragments of memories upon fragments memories, they merge together to become something unrecognizable. Therefore, this project aims to visualize the process of grieving through art, as well as disscussing art's potential of being used in a therapeutic context while dealing with loss. |
